Cashew Hot Chocolate Recipe: Creamy Homemade Hot Cocoa

Make your next cosy drink a little more special with this Cashew Hot Chocolate recipe. This warm drink combines homemade cashew milk, cocoa powder and honey, for rich, creamy & nutty chocolate flavour.

It is simple to prepare, requires only a few ingredients and is perfect for a quiet evening, a relaxing morning or whenever you're craving a tasty chocolate drink.

For an even richer finish, you can melt dark chocolate chips into the mixture before serving.

Ingredients

  • Cashew milk, as needed

  • 3 tablespoons cocoa powder

  • 3 tablespoons honey (adjust sweetness to your preference)

Optional: Dark chocolate chips for extra creaminess.

How to Make Cashew Hot Chocolate

1. Prepare the Cashew Milk

Pour your homemade cashew milk into a microwave-safe mug or container.

If you haven't made it yet, follow our Homemade Cashew Milk Recipe.

2. Add the Cocoa Powder

  • Add 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder to the cashew milk.
  • Whisk thoroughly until the cocoa is evenly incorporated and there are no visible lumps.

3. Sweeten with Honey

  • Add 3 tablespoons of honey and whisk again.
  • Taste and adjust the sweetness if desired.

4. Heat the Drink

Microwave for approximately 1 minute, or until the drink reaches your preferred temperature.

Microwave times vary, so heat in short intervals if necessary and stir carefully before drinking. Heating the cashew milk will also help give the drink a thicker consistency.

5. Add Dark Chocolate (Optional)

For an extra-creamy finish, stir dark chocolate chips into the hot drink while it is warm, allowing them to melt completely.

Whisk until smooth and serve immediately.

Tips for the Best Cashew Hot Chocolate

  • Whisk the cocoa first. Mixing thoroughly before heating helps prevent dry cocoa lumps.
  • Adjust the sweetness. Honey can be increased or reduced according to your preference.
  • Use dark chocolate for richness. Melted dark chocolate creates a fuller, more indulgent texture.
  • Heat carefully. Stir before serving to distribute the heat evenly.

Why Use Cashew Milk for Hot Chocolate?

Making your own cashew milk also lets you control the sweetness and adjust the consistency to suit your taste.
